Description
Studio portrait of 1284 Corporal James Glenville Shepherd, 30th Battalion, sent from Egypt to his family. "To home and loved ones/ With loving thoughts and best wishes/ from your absent one,/ James.
In July 1916 Sergeant Shepherd was admitted to hospital suffering from shell shock and was returned to Australia for a change following hospitalisation in various hospitals in England. He was discharged in Sydney on 15 March 1917, medically unfit.
