England. C. 1945-05. Crew of Halifax heavy bomber aircraft "E" for Easy on return from its 100th operational flight for which the target was Osnabruck in Germany. Essen, Cologne, Bochum, Munster, Duisburg, Osnabruck, Hamburg and Portmund have been among the targets attacked during the 100 operations. "E" for Easy was on operations on D-Day and has flown on missions over Calais, to Havre, Brest, Caen and flying bomb objectives. They are: Flight Lieutenant R. Kemp, captain, of North Shields, Northumberland; Flight Sergeant (F Sgt) A. C. Townsend RAAF, navigator, of Sydney, NSW; F Sgt J. D. Silberberg RAAF, air bomber, of Melbourne, Vic; Warrant Officer R. J. Williams RAAF, wireless operator, of Qld; Sergeant E. S. Hawkins, flight engineer, of Auckland, NZ; F Sgt R. T. Jackson, air gunner, of Leicester; F Sgt F. Thwaites, air gunner, of Western Road, Leicester. The Station Commander, Group Captain B. D. Sellick DFC, congratulates the captain of "E" for Easy as he and other members of the crew landed.
