Magdeburg, Germany. C. 1945-07. Twisted wreckage and the shells of damaged or burned out buildings are all that is left of the main works in the German industrial town of Magdeburg, target of Allied air attack. 520 "heavies" of RAF Bomber Command attacked this target on 1944-01-21/22, and dropped over 2,000 tons of bombs. Magdeburg was also attacked on several occasions by Mosquito aircraft of RAF Bomber Command. Another heavy attack came on 1945-01-16/17, when over 300 aircraft dropped more than 1,000 tons. RAAF bomber squadrons took part in these raids. An interior view of the machine shop in the Crusonwerk A. G. works where telescopes and torpedoes were made. The Crusonwerk A. G. was one of the Krupp's works and employed over 35,000 people.
