A portrait of 1477 Private James Barker, 34th Battalion. Private Barker died on 1917-07-20. His name appears on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Ypres, Belgium. This portrait is taken from a composite photograph presented to the Abermain RSL by the ladies of the Abermain Comforts Fund. His son 2534 Private Barker was also killed in action and is on this composite panel (P01920.016). The composite photograph comprises portraits of the twenty five servicemen from Abermain who lost their lives in the war of 1914-1918 (Australian War Memorial negative number P01920.001).
