Description
496 survivors, passengers and crews from the British vessels Rangitane, Komata, Triaster, Triadic, Triona and Holmwood and the Norwegian vessel Vinni were rescued from the small island of Emirau, just south of the equator, where they were landed by a German raider on 21 December 1940. Shown here are five survivors aboard the rescue ship Nellore.
