Cocos Islands. C. 1945-08. Following the Japanese surrender, RAF heavy bomber aircraft dropped much-needed medical supplies to Allied prisoner of war camps in the Dutch East Indies and Singapore area. Leading Aircraftman F. Duffy of Dundee, adjusts the parachute cords after fitting canisters containing medical supplies into the bomb bay of an RAF Liberator bomber operating from the Cocos Islands.
