Mount Martha, Vic. c. 1940. A damaged Universal Carrier (Bren Gun Carrier) after trials conducted at Mt. Martha Military Camp to determine the effects of driving tracked vehicles through loosely coiled barbed wire. Note the damage to the front fender. This carrier was probably the first armoured vehicle in Australia and was used as a prototype for the manufacture of these vehicles in Australia. (Donor; R. Andrews)
