Middle East. C. 1942-03. The Australian pilot, right, saved the life of the second pilot, left, when their bomber aircraft caught fire. The Australian kept control of the aircraft at 1700 feet, and with one hand held the second pilot to prevent him falling out before landing the aircraft at Malta.
