Port Moresby, Papua. 1940-09-12. The chorus line of the amateur cast of a patriotic concert, providing entertainment in aid of the Red Cross, on stage. Members of the 'Sunny Side Up Company', they are performing a routine 'Old Fashioned Locket' at the Literary Institute Hall, for troops stationed in Port Moresby in case the Japanese invaded. Dressed in graceful long white dresses, they are, left to right: Mrs Gladys Nicholas, Laurel Preston, Pat Sinclair, Mrs Clare Hides, Mrs Nancy Oldham, Monica Mathews, Letty Humphries. Clare Hides and her son were evacuated from Papua in the last ship to leave for Australia with civilian evacuees 1941-12. (Donor J. Nicholls)
