Tokyo, Japan. 1945-11. Aerial photograph of the burnt out suburbs of the city following months of air attack by US bomber aircraft. The damage is evident from the ruined buildings and large areas of land with no buildings standing. The photograph was taken from a RAAF Liberator specially fitted out to fly high ranking staff (on this trip Generals Blamey and Simpson).
