Portrait of 1528 Private (Pte) James Caddell, 5th Australian Infantry Battalion. A shearer prior to enlisting on 2 December 1914, he embarked from Melbourne aboard HMAT Runic (A54) on 16 January 1915. Pte Caddell was killed in action during the 2nd Battle of Krithia, Gallipoli, between 8 May and 12 May 1915. He was 25 years old.
