Portrait of Flying Officer Vic Hodgkinson, a pilot of No. 10 (Sunderland) Squadron RAAF based at RAF Station Mount Batten, on the way to board his aircraft complete with flying kit, pigeons in a basket and a steel helmet. The carrier pigeons are carried as an emergency measure during operational flights.
