Studio portrait of NX35266 Private (Pte) Albert William Dengate, 2/10th Australian Infantry Battalion, with two unidentified Australian soldiers. A painter prior to enlisting on 17 June 1940, he embarked for Singapore on 2 February 1941. Pte Dengate was killed in action on 19 January 1942 while serving in Malaya. He was 34 years old.
