Collection relating to the First World War service of 5366 Private Hans Christian Sorensen Lund, 26 Australian Infantry Battalion, Australian Imperial Force, England, 1918.

Wallet 1 of 1 – Contains one letter written from Private Lund to his mother Mrs Alvilda Lund, dated 14 September 1918. This letter was written during Private Lund’s leave in London, England. He writes regarding his enjoyment of London, and his dreaded return back to service in France. He also mentions seeing fellow servicemen, and his hope to return home at the end of the war

History / Summary

Private Hans Christian Sorensen Lund enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 28 February 1916 in Gatton, Queensland. He served with the 26 Australian Infantry Battalion in France. Private Lund was killed in action on 3 October 1918 in France. Private Hans Christian Sorensen Lund is commemorated at the Australian National Memorial in Villers-Bretonneaux, France.
