Informal portrait of 2791959 Corporal John Geoffrey Fairley, Royal Australian Army Educational Corps (Public Relations). Fairley worked as a commercial photographer in Sydney when he was conscripted for National Service in 1969. After recruit training in Singleton, and Corps and trade training in Canberra, he was posted to Public Relations in Brisbane, covering the Northern Command. Fairley deployed to Vietnam in January 1970 with the Royal Australian Army Educational Corps (Public Relations) and spent 324 days in-country, capturing imagery of operations, patrols and humanitarian efforts.
