RPG 7 Rocket Launcher

RPG 7 Rocket Launcher or Anti Tank Grenade Launcher. Tubular construction with a reinforced centre section covered with a ribbed brown fibre heat shield and a conical rear that has a rolled edge (damaged). The top has a folding carry handle and on the left side is a dovetail bracket for an optical sight or night image intensifier. The forward alloy trigger pistol grip section with brown chequered side plates, has a rear cocking hammer and a button safety. It is marked 69-1-40 together with the serial number and 197 within a circle. The battle sights are a folding front post and an adjustable rear leaf off set to the right. A front sling swivel bar is welded to the tube and the rear is on a band. The main spring for the weapon has been removed to render it inoperable.

This weapon was possibly captured in Vietnam. It fires a rocket grenade that has four spring loaded folding knife like fins that are flat against the body until it clears the muzzle.
