Description
Vung Tau, Phuoc Tuy Province, Vietnam, 1966-07. The United States Army 61st Aviation Company's airfield at Vung Tau, also home to the RAAF's Transport Flight Vietnam (TFVN), which became No. 35 Squadron in 1966, and later home also to No. 9 Squadron and No 1 Operational Support Unit. The hangar, second from the left, was the original hangar used by TSFVN and No. 35 Squadron before the later development of the airfield. The sand dunes beyond the end of the runway are where the Australian Army established No 1 Australian Logistics Support Group (1ALSG) in 1966-06. (Donor V. Guthrie)
