Description
Members of the Darwin Detachment laying planks along the road moving the pedestal for one of the 6 inch Mark XI Breech Loading Counter Bombardment guns, which is cradled on wooden rollers. The ordnance pieces such as pedestals and cradles were transported to Darwin from Sydney on HMAS Albatross while the six inch pieces and gun shields were delivered on the cruisers HMAS Australia and HMAS Canberra carrying two each. HMAS Albatross arrived at Darwin on 2 September 1932 and the cruisers arrived to unload their cargo on 6 September 1932.
