Collection relating to the Second World War service of NX71306 Signalman Sydney Sim, 8 Division Corps of Signals, Singapore, 1945.
Wallet 1 of 1 - Collection contains transcripts of news broadcasts received on a wireless radio set that was made and operated by Signalman Sim at Changi Prisoner of War camp, Singapore. They describe events following the Japanese surrender, and the lead-up to the occupation of Japan by Allied forces. Other subjects include the dropping of supplies to POW camps, arrangements for evacuation of POWs and demobilisation of troops, and preparations for the occupation.
