Description
Group portrait of prisoners of war at Fukuoka Branch Camp 26 Z (Keisen), also called Usui , six weeks after peace was declared. Included in the group is Private Colin Walter Hutton, 12th Recovery (middle row, fourth from the left). Despite having been "fattened up" before returning home the emaciated figures of the prisoners show the effects of time spent in a prisoners of war camp. Usui is the railway station, south of Camp 26, where prisoners embarked or disembarked trains.
