A RAN member of the Australian Naval and Military Expeditionary Force (AN&MEF) and an (indigenous) New Briton native stand as sentry at one of the three defensive trenches on the road to the Bitapaka wireless station after allied forces captured the station from the Germans on 11 September 1914.
