Xa Bang, South Vietnam. September 1967. Troops from 7th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (7RAR) check Vietnamese houses and prepare to take a census of inhabitants and their possessions in the village during Operation Ainslie. The troops destroyed the old village after resettling villagers in new homes near the 1st Australian Task Force (1ATF) base at Nui Dat. The village has been dominated by the Viet Cong (VC) for years and its destruction removed one of the few remaining areas of VC influence in Phuoc Tuy Province.
