Collection relating to NX53306 George Hill Mackisack
Description
Informal portrait of officers of 2/4 Anti Tank Regiment "in a Chinese temple on the edge of a graveyard". Identified from left to right: TX6001 Captain Bruce Alfred 'Shorty' Waddle; VX39037 Lieutenant Campbell Elliott Smith (later drowned 12 September 1944 when the Rakuyo Maru was sunk) and VX39080 Major Clarence Owen. All were taken prisoner of war and Owen and Waddle survived their captivity.
