Description
Collection relating to Second Lieutenant (2nd Lt) Archibald Frank “Frank” Redhead, 23rd Battalion. Original inscription reads, ‘Looking towards trenches (Anzac) from Watson’s Pier. No time to write more as we entrain in one and a half hours for front via Alex and I haven’t yet packed. Expect to see this spot within a week.’ 2nd Lt Redhead, a bookkeeper of Wagga Wagga, NSW, enlisted in January 1915. His two brothers, 11 Farrier Sergeant John William Redhead 2nd DHQ; and 1720 Sergeant (Sgt) Mark Redhead 55th Battalion AIF enlisted later in 1915. 2nd Lt Frank Redhead was killed in action on 6 May 1917.
