Description
Collection relating to Second Lieutenant (2nd Lt) Archibald Frank “Frank” Redhead, 23rd Battalion and 11 Farrier Sergeant John William “Jack” Redhead 2nd Australian Division Headquarters. Original inscription written by Farrier Sergeant Redhead reads: ‘This is my pony. The best pony ever I have ridden. That is a private on him, he is well fitted. This photo was taken the day we were gassed and I pulled Frank out of bed and I had a fair dose myself. The horses were bad and we have not lost all, but a terrible lot died. Jack.’ 2nd Lt Redhead and Farrier Sergeant Redhead were both serving with the 2nd Australian Division Headquarters in June of 1916.
