Collection relating to Second Lieutenant (2nd Lt) Archibald Frank “Frank” Redhead, 23rd Battalion and 11 Farrier Sergeant John William “Jack” Redhead 2nd Australian Division Headquarters. Indoor studio portrait of three members of the AIF. Identified centre is 2nd Lt Frank Redhead. Original inscription reads: ‘Centre – Frank Redhead. Right – Jack? France 2.3.17. Dear Home, Frank taken the first time to England. Given [to] me the night he goes into the trenches. Jack.’ 2nd Lt Redhead, a bookkeeper of Wagga Wagga, NSW, enlisted in January 1915. His two brothers, Farrier Sergeant Jack Redhead and 1720 Sergeant Mark Redhead both enlisted in 1915. 2nd Lt Frank Redhead was killed in action on 6 May 1917.
