Description
Manuscript titled "From Tobruk to Scarlet Beach with 2/13 Australian Infantry Battalion", compiled by Mervyn Collins from 2/13 Infantry Battalion unit war diaries. Describes events at Tobruk from April-December 1941, then Tripoli, El Alamein, leave in Australia and amphibious training. Goes on to describe operations in New Guinea, including Battle for Lae, Red and Yellow Beaches, Finschhaven, Scarlet Beach, and continuing movements around Huon Peninsula. Also describes capture of Brunei Peninsula, and finishes with the months following Japanese surrender.
