Description
This is one of 6 small watercolours by Corporal Francis John ‘Curly’ Papworth relating to his service with 2/4 Independent Company in Timor Leste (then Portuguese East Timor). Ailalec is a small village deep in the hinterland of Timor Leste. The village's remote location and inaccessibility made it a good base for the 2/4 Commandos in 1942-43.
