The helicopter lies on its belly in the background showing damaged rotor blades and a crushed nose and side. The helicopter was carrying three UNTAC officials, one being the Australian Lieutenant-Colonel Richard Palk, Chief of Military Public Information and another the Canadian Judith Thompson (right foreground), as well as a contingent of international media representatives. The UNTAC officers were on their way to a meeting with other senior UNTAC officials. Following this accident UNTAC grounded its five remaining MI-17 helicopters pending an investigation.
