Left to right on centre tier: Benyamin, Farzin and Raha, the children of Ghulam Reza Mohammadi (below), a UNESCO field officer in central Afghanistan's Bamiyan province who worked for years to preserve the famous Bamiyan Buddhas, make themselves as comfortable as possible in a waiting area on the military side of Hamid Karzai International Airport after they entering in a four bus convoy in the middle of the night, through Taliban checkpoints and those manned by members of the notorious CIA-backed paramilitary units.
