Description

The Shahzada money exchange in central Kabul opened for the first time today, September 4, since the Taliban took control of Kabul on August 15. The reopening of the exchange, which, according to New York Times photographer Victor Blue, has more than $US50 million circulating within it on any given day, brought some relief to Afghans who are facing cash shortages, bank cash withdrawal limits of $200 or 20,000 Afghani per week, as well as a devalued currency. The rate for the Afghani against the USD today was 86.8 (bid price) and 87 (ask price).Taken at 14:03:35
