Description
Group portrait of allied prisoners of war (POWs) from Stalag XXa who make up the Fort 15 band, with their musical instruments. This German POW and internment camp was in a series of semi underground forts built in the 1880s on the Vistula River. Prisoners at the camp included members of 2/5th Australian General Hospital (AGH) who were captured in Greece after they were ordered to remain there following the evacuation, to treat wounded allied POWs.
