Description

Kure, Japan, 1950-08-15. Marching on parade, Australian troops serving with BCOF salute an official party, standing on a dais at left, which includes the Prime Minister, the Honourable Robert G. Menzies. The parade is being led by 3/169 Lieutenant Colonel Floyd Stanley Walsh, Commanding Officer of the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment. Standing on the dais, left to right, are: Air Commodore A.M. Charlesworth; Menzies; Lieutenant General H.C.H. ('Red Robbie') Robertson, the Commander-in-Chief of BCOF; Brigadier I.R. Campbell, Commander of the British Commonwealth Base Kure. The Union Jack and Australian flag fly above the dais. The Prime Minister was making an official visit of inspection to Australian units serving with BCOF in the Kure area.
