Description

Kure, Japan, 1950-08-15. With his hand in his pocket, the Prime Minister, the Honourable Robert G. Menzies, stands on the official dais to address a parade (not in view) of Australian troops serving with BCOF. Standing on the dais behind Menzies are, left to right: Air Commodore A.M. Charlesworth; Lieutenant General H.C.H. ('Red Robbie') Robertson, the Commander-in-Chief of BCOF; Brigadier I.R. Campbell, Commander of the British Commonwealth Base Kure. The parade is being held in honour of the Prime Minister who is making an official visit of inspection to Australian units serving with BCOF in the Kure area.
