Darwin, NT. 1945-09-21. A large crowd of spectators welcome the hospital ship Oranje as she sails up Darwin Harbour carrying 760 stretcher cases and walking wounded from Singapore. Oranje is the first ship to arrive at Darwin repatriating prisoners of war (POWs) held by the Japanese.
