Darwin, NT. 1945-09-14. RAAF ex prisoners of war (POWs) embarking on the SS Highland Chieftain, the vessel which repatriated them from Japanese POW camps, and work on the Burma-Thailand railway. These POWs have just been re-equipped with new clothing, and will continue their voyage on the ship to ports in other Australian states.
