Melbourne, Vic. 1944-02-19. The old style cap worn by Corporal Phil Phillips (left) has a shiny peak and initial badge whilst the new issue cap worn by Flight Sergeant J. B. Fisher is made of lighter-weight officer style fabric with a fabric peak in place of the shiny leather one and a cloth badge woven in dark and light blue. Issue of the new style cap was limited to airwomen with more than two years service in the WAAAF.
