Description

Memoirs of Harold Brabin, recalling enlistment in Australia in RAAF, training in Canada, Scotland, and Litchfield, leave in New York and England, qualification as Wireless Air Gunner and posting to 102 Squadron RAF at Pocklington. Assigned to aircraft 'N for Nan', Brabin gives details of each flight taken from May 1944 until the end of the war in Europe. He describes bombing raids over France and Germany, with targets such as factories, railway yards, and ammunition dumps, and also mentions trips delivering petol to Brussels. He also frequently mentions loss of other aircraft. The memoir includes copies of photographs and maps. Incorporated into the collection in August 2009 was an updated bound and typed copy of the manuscript (with illustrations) titled 'Diary of a W.A.G. - Memoirs of WW2 Wireless Air Gunner Harry Brabin', written by Harry Brabin. Also added to this collection in 2016, was another updated version of the manuscript which includes more poetry written by Brabin.
