Description
Hiro, Honshu, Japan, 1948-11-29. A member of the Intelligence Section, 67th Infantry Battalion serving with BCOF (right), works at a desk in his office while, behind him, a Japanese interpreter employed by the battalion leans on the desk. The soldier appears to be using a Japanese-English dictionary to translate a document lying on the desk at left. The interpreter is looking down at a newspaper which is lying in front of him on the desk. Also resting on the desk are an ashtray, another dictionary, some folded newspapers and a worksheet near the soldier's right arm. (Donor I. Robertson)
