Description
Hiro, Honshu, Japan, 1948-12-25. With glasses and bottles of beer in front of them, members of the 67th Infantry Battalion, part of the Australian component of BCOF, sit around the dinner table during their Christmas dinner in the soldiers' mess. The soldier at extreme left is 2/45200 Corporal Vince Bennett. Resting on the table are mugs, cutlery, salt and pepper shakers, pieces of fruit and saucers containing small pieces of Christmas cake. The ceiling of the mess is festooned with streamers. The soldier second from left is smoking a cigarette. (Donor I. Robertson)
