Honshu, Japan, c. 1950-08-04. Members of the Sniper Section, the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), pause by the side of a road for a rest during their 32 kilometre march from Hiro to BCOF's main field training centre at Haramura. The soldiers are (left to right): Private (Pte) Hutton; 4/643 Pte Lance Gully; 3/46514 Pte W.H. Alberts. They are on their way to Haramura to take part in Exercise Experimental in preparation for 3RAR's move to Korea. Note that the soldiers' rifles are fitted with telescopic sights. (Donor I. Robertson)
