Description

Hiro, Japan, 1950-08. Members of the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), take part in a course in enemy weapons identification in preparation for the battalion's imminent move to Korea from BCOF. The soldiers are (left to right): unknown; Private (Pte) Clarke; Corporal 'Stewie' Ham; Pte Jim Blackmore (partly obscured). The soldier at left is handling a Russian 7.62 mm PPSh M1941 submachine gun ('burp gun') with its magazine removed.
