Shellal, Palestine. c. 1917. Graves of five Australians killed on 17 April 1917 when a bomb was dropped into the camp of the 2nd Light Horse Brigade. The graves are marked with wooden crosses and rocks. From left to right the graves are those of Armenac Kemkemian, 433 Sergeant (Sgt) Robert Percy Thomson (2nd Light Horse Field Ambulance), 1637 Lance Corporal Charles David Austin (A.P. Corps (?) 2nd Light Horse Brigade Headquarters), 1526 Private Leo Augustus Ussher (6th Light Horse Regiment), and 141 Driver Herbert M. Thorpe (2nd Light Horse Brigade Supply).
