Description
Honshu, Japan, c. 1950-09. As Japanese peasant farmers survey the damage, a jeep and the trailer it had been towing lie in a rice paddy field after they had run off the road and overturned. The jeep, belonging to the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), had been driven by a soldier who was probably a member of the Armoured Corps. The vehicles and their driver were en route to a training exercise in preparation for 3RAR's imminent move to Korea from BCOF. The man on the right is wearing former Japanese Army issue jacket, puttees and geta-like canvas boots. (Donor I. Robertson) (Compare images P01813.394, P01813.395 & P01813.396)
