Description

Honshu, Japan, c. 1950-09. At a mess parade at a camp or bivouac in the countryside, a cook (centre) from the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), holds open the tap of a large metal urn to enable another soldier (left) to fill his dixie with tea or coffee. Opened tins of food rest on the ground between them. The soldiers are taking part in a training exercise in preparation for 3RAR's imminent departure for Korea from BCOF. (Donor I. Robertson)
