Korea, 1950-10. Lieutenant General Sir Richard Gale KBE MC DSO, the British Army's Director of Military Training, making an official visit of inspection to the camp occupied by the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR). At left is 2/45200 Staff Sergeant Vince Bennett, 3RAR, and at right behind General Gale is Colonel W. Brogan. Hanging up next to Sergeant Bennett, suspended by a bent coathanger, is an empty shellcase that is serving as dinner gong for mess parades. Two flues belonging to a field kitchen are at extreme left.
