Description

United Nations (UN) military chief in Rwanda, Major General Guy Tousignant, presents Corporal Brendan Reilly, with his UN medal. At this parade the General said that the Australian Medical Support Force had been the success story of the UN mission. Corporal Reilly was one of sixty four medal recipients who were the first Australians in Rwanda with the Advance Party in early August 1994. Service personnel are eligible for the medal after 90 days continuous service. Corporal Reilly is based with the Townsville's 2nd/4th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (RAR), and is in Rwanda as part of the infantry protection element for the medical force.
