Description
Operations Officer, Major Simon Gould, issues instructions over the radio in the communications centre at the headquarters of the Australian Medical Support Force in Rwanda. Major Gould, who led the advance party responsible for re-establishing the Kigali Central Hospital prior to the arrival of the main contingent, is leaving the mission early to take up a selected appointment as a student at the Command and Staff College at Queenscliff, Victoria. The Australian Medical Support Force is part of UNAMIR (United Nations Assistance Mission in Rwanda), a peacekeeping mission in the war-torn central African nation. The medical support force provides medical treatment to the UN troops and humanitarian help to the local people where possible.
