Description
Death Valley, Chuam-ni, Korea, 1951-02-17. The dead bodies of American soldiers and their discarded equipment lie in the snow. The soldiers were killed on the night of 1951-02-12 and 1951-02-13 when Chinese Communist forces attacked and overran a force consisting of L Company of the 9th US Regiment and the Reconnaissance Company of the 2nd US Division. Note that the corpse at top is barefoot, his boots having been taken by the victorious Chinese troops for their own use. (Donor I. Robertson)
