Probably Han River, Korea, c. 1951-01. Squatting on her haunches, a Korean peasant woman uses a wooden washing board to do her washing in the icy waters of the river. Behind her is a tub containing her washing and, at right, a small wicker container that may hold soap. Two large metal spools on which cable or rope were wound lie discarded at left. (Donor I.
